Creating healthier communities by supporting nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve.

SERVICES

With decades of experience, Hat Creek offers a full-spectrum of services for all things related to nonprofits, ranging from setting up organizations from scratch, including securing tax-exempt status from the IRS to dissolution of organizations.

We specialize in grantwriting, program development, strategic planning, and project management.

PROJECTS

At any given time, we are working on multiple projects of various sizes. This typically includes supporting program design, managing multi-partner networks, and coordinating our flagship Collective Impact Health Specialist project in three communities in the Pacific Northwest.

The CIHS project utilizes the Collaborative Grantwriting Model to help identify community needs, facilitate conversations to design programs that address those needs, and then secure funding to support those programs.

After 10+ years in the Columbia Gorge alone, this program has helped launch 130+ programs, secured $35.5 million in grants, and created a culture of collaboration.

CLIENTS

Hat Creek has had the honor of working with a wide variety clients over the years; nonprofits, foundations, and the private sector. Some are large such as Google and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, while others are smaller in size and scope, but all are working to create healthier communities. Our longest partnership is with Providence Health, the largest health care provider on the West Coast.

OUR SERVICES

Grantwriting

With more than 60 years of combined experience, Hat Creek offers a full range of grantwriting support to our clients. These include co-designing programs based on our clients' needs and ideas, researching potential funding sources including foundations, corporations, and/or government agencies, and crafting a workplan for each application. We then can support any application from simple strategic advice and editorial review before submission to drafting a full application.

Network Development

We are experts in designing  and sustaining cross-sector collaborative networks. We  have worked with many groups of community service providers to identify common goals and ideas, create agreements to launch a collective effort, design workplans to achieve common goals, and manage the ongoing work to achieve those goals.

Strategic Planning

We have worked with many community partners through  the process of creating realistic and effective strategic plans. This process includes working with staff and board to identify big picture goals, prioritizing those goals through group discussions, and then, creating  a funding plan to bring those goals to reality.

Project Management

Hat Creek's project management approach includes creating workplans, timelines, and budgets, and then managing toward achieving the planned tasks and activities. Paul has Project Managed several building projects, including Hood River Library, FISH Food Bank, and a school-based health center Hood River. Claire is currently managing the creation of a documentary about Community Health Workers and she is managing the launch of a multi-partner navigation hub focused on mental health services.

OUR CLIENTS

Hat Creek has worked with and on behalf of hundreds of clients over the years, across the full spectrum of issues and sectors including nonprofits and other community-based organizations, local city and county agencies, state agencies, national organizations like the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, National Academy of Medicine, and TEDMED. Our work is not limited to tax-exempt organizations which means we've partnered with private sector as well, including Google and Boeing. We've also worked with a variety of philanthropy partners including state, regional and national foundations such as Oregon Community Foundation, The Ford Family Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
